Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all time, and the achievements he has in his 16-year-long career sound imaginary. He dominated the swimming arena from 2004 to 2016. Moreover, he created several timing records and the record of the most Olympics medals.

However, when a person indulges so deeply in one area, he rarely gets excelled in another. Similarly, Phelps is a swimming legend, but when it comes to other sports, well, one can say he is not at the same level. Phelps enjoyed his time playing tennis

After the records breaking performance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Michael Phelps became a superstar. He was in the limelight everywhere. However, after winning eight gold medals in 2008, Phelps wasn’t looking to go with a similar hardcore schedule for the 2012 Olympics. But he always had the London Olympics in mind. Talking about London, he shared his memory of playing at Wimbledon.

When he mentioned Wimbledon, the interviewer asked“Did they let you play on centre court?” Phelps replied, “Oh no. They only allowed us to play on one of the practice courts and that’s just as well because I played awful.”

Interviewer wittily questioned, “So you didn’t catch fire and bring your Olympic form to Wimbledon?” Phelps said, “No way. But, still, I can say I’ve played tennis at Wimbledon. We had fun, we laughed, we joked. What an experience.”

The legendary swimming career of Michael Phelps

Even though he might not have excelled in other sports, there are very few who could have beaten him at his peak. Spectacular 28 Olympics medals that include 23 gold medals. This stat is enough to prove his dominance in the swimming world.

His legendary journey doesn’t end with his retirement. He has begun another inning to fight against mental health negligence. In addition, after retirement, he has become a mental health advocate and is trying to help out athletes with their mental health situations.
