In a post-race interview with SwimSwam following Gretchen Walsh’s blazing time of 20.37 seconds in the Women’s 50 Freestyle final, Walsh reflected on her performance. She mentioned attempting to identify ways to improve her time, and a particular moment stood out when she was asked about how her coach pointed out that she took an extra stroke in the prelims. She shared, “I actually didn’t end up taking that extra stroke tonight just because I think if I had, like, I would have hit my head on the wall or something.”
