With the assistance of Indiana Conservation Officers, rescue teams swiftly initiated search and recovery operations.

The arduous efforts paid off when the young victim was recovered from a depth of seven feet of water at 12:30 a.m. According to WTHI-TV 10 preliminary autopsy results confirmed drowning as the cause of death. The search and recovery operation faced significant challenges due to strong winds and unfavorable weather conditions, making it difficult to employ sophisticated sonar technology effectively. After exhaustive efforts, the bodies of Shah and Vaidya were finally recovered in an area of Monroe Lake, submerged in eighteen feet of water.
