After Almost Losing Million Dollar Nike Deal, Sha’Carri Richardson Dominates Over Jamaican Rivals in Special Shoe at World Athletics Championship

After facing doping allegations in 2021, Sha’Carri Richardson was banned from the Olympics. Following the suspension, the rising sensation from LSU, who had shown top-tier skills during freshman year, had to go through many hardships in the last two years. The athlete was even about to lose a million-dollar deal with brand partner, Nike. However, the footwear brand denied breaking bonds with the star and decided to support Sha’Carri Richardson amid these tough times.

Now, as Richardson is back on the tracks and continues to clinch one victory after another, she became a force to be reckoned with. Along similar lines, the sprinter once again stood atop the podium after attaining gold in the world athletics championship. Interestingly, while dominating over her Jamaican rivals, Sha’Carri Richardson was seen wearing Nike’s uniquely designed shoes.

After clinching the 100m victory at the World Athletics Championships, Sha’Carri Richardson became the world’s fastest woman by clocking the championship record in 10.65 seconds. Interestingly, the sprinter etched her name in the heavy tome of track & field, all while wearing the hot pink Nike Air Zoom Maxfly track and field distance spikes to win the race.

The shoe, known for absorbing impact, comes with a synthetic upper. According to Footwear News, to gasp more while gaining balance on the tracks, “Nike designed the outsole of the spike carefully, playing the removable spikes in areas of contact with the track.” Apart from Richardson, three other sprinters, including Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, were seen wearing the same spikes during the race, while many others opted for Puma and Adidas shoes.

Nike supporting LSU star

Since rising to fame in the first year of LSU, Sha’Carri Richardson has grabbed deals with many big brands. Nike also decided to collaborate with the LSU star in 2019. The brand even supported athletes after facing doping allegations and getting banned from the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Amid this concerning situation, Nike released a statement via ESPN, appreciating the athlete’s honesty.

The footwear brand conceded, “We appreciate Sha’Carri’s honesty and accountability and will continue to support her through this tough time.” And now, after two years of hiatus, with Nike’s Air Zoom Maxfly track and field distance spikes, Richardson propelled her way through the finish line in a record 10.65 seconds.
