Back in 2021, when Sha’Carri Richardson got suspended in the wake of doping allegations, the sprinter became a subject of close scrutiny. However, as various conjectures were brewing around her ban, Cardi B was quick to shut down the speculation.“Three years from now, she’s going to be the No. 1 most-anticipated to go to the Olympics,” stated the rapper while showing her support for Richardson. Three years have now passed, and Richardson is not just back, but she is better.

Interestingly, as the 100m World Athletics Champion is now paving her way to Paris, Belcalis Marlenis Cephus once again hailed the sprinter while promoting the 2024 Paris Olympics.

On May 5, taking to her X handle, Cardi B expressed her excitement about seeing Sha’Carri Richardson compete in one of her favorite cities: Paris. The rapper shared the NBCU Paris Olympics promo video and captioned, “Can’t wait to see my girl @itsshacarri in one of my favorite places in the world…PARIS!! #ParisOlympics”

In the video, both Richardson and Cardi B can be seen getting their nail extensions done while talking about the French capital. The music icon said that Paris, “changes the mood, it changes the tone.” Expressing her excitement to see Richardson live at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper made a promise to the sprinter saying, “I would come just for you.”

More so, back in December 2023, when Richardson graced her presence at the ‘Night of Legends’ Award ceremony in Orlando, Florida, she took the spotlight through her glamorous appearance in a shimmery barbie dress and green trail gown. She revealed that the inspiration behind her viral look at the USATF awards was from Cardi B.

However, three years before the sprinter lifted her 2023 USATF Jackie Joyner-Kersee Female Athlete of the Year Award, the odds were not in her favor. When the 100m World Champion faced a ban, several theories behind her suspension took the center stage. But, among her supporters, Cardi B took the front seat and expressed her perspective to give a halt to those conjectures.

Cardi B’s unfeigned support for Sha’Carri Richardson

Following her suspension from the US Olympic team in 2021, an Australian journalist, Claire Lehmann made unfounded claims about Richardson possibly using steroids. Cardi B swiftly came to the defense of Sha’Carri Richardson.

Lehmann’s claims, based on Richardson’s long hair and nails, were quickly shut down by Cardi B. “B I O T I N…….You needs for your thin a** hair,” Cardi B tweeted in response to Lehmann’s accusations, referring to the vitamin B supplement.

On Instagram, Cardi B further addressed the situation, expressing her support for Richardson and predicting her future success: “This is how I feel about the Sha’Carri situation, right. I feel like we cannot turn time around. I feel like the Olympics are going to try and be so hard on her ’cause this has been a big situation. However, that doesn’t take away [from the fact] that she’s the most talked about athlete.

Interestingly, after standing for Richardson during tough times, Cardi B once again joined forces with the sprinter recently for the NBCU Olympics promo. Though the fans got the half of the conversation between the two in the short clip, NBCU will make the entire conversation available via digital media, and will share more snippets over the next few weeks on social media. With this, fans and spectators are excited to see more segments of the collaboration between the two iconic ladies, don’t you agree?
