As KSI Secures Nearly $5,000,000 From Boxing Match, Knighted Track Legend Hints at “Challenging” Himself at 40

On Saturday 13th May, internet sensation turned boxer, KSI, scored a knockout victory against Joe Fournier at MF & DAZN: X Series in London and took home a grand prize of nearly $5 million. The 29-year-old made a splash in his fandom by clinching his second big achievement of the year, after trouncing FaZe Temper in January. With his incredible win, KSI earned a hoard full of praise from the spectators and his fans. One of them was British track and field athlete Mo Farah, who was also in attendance and made a wish to choose a career in combat sports.

British long-distance runner Sir Mo Farah is a prominent figure in the track and field arena. His 10 global championship gold medals and 2 Olympic gold medals make him one of the most successful male athletes in long-distance running. However, despite having a staunch record on tracks, the 40-year-old recently expressed his desire to try his luck in boxing, after witnessing KSI’s commendable knocks and punches.

Recently, co-founders of Misfit Boxing, Kalle Sauerland, and Nisse Sauerland shared a testimonial video of Farah through their Twitter handle. In the video, the long-distance runner praised KSI for his big win and talked about the controversial ending of the match. He stated, “For me, it was a good fight but then obviously stuff changed so quickly. I didn’t even know what happened, I looked over and that was it”. Expressing his desire to lace up the boxing gloves, he conceded, “I would need to do a bit of training and get confidence but I would love to challenge myself maybe one day”. 

However, boxing isn’t the only field that piqued Farah’s interest. He also has a keen fascination for Formula 1 racing. Interestingly, once he recalled his impromptu conversation with F1 champion Lewis Hamilton and how he asked the Mercedes racer for the field tickets.

Farah’s fascination with F1

In 2021, Sir Mo Farah appeared in an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, where he profoundly chatted about the time he slid into Hamilton’s DMs. Interestingly, the track and field champion met Hamilton for the first time during the BBC Sports Personality. Nonetheless, their next meeting took place in Japan. The long-distance runner wanted to watch the F1 races and ended up texting Hamilton for the tickets.

And I was like listen I’m in Japan. You’re here? And he told ‘yeah’. I said ‘Can I get some tickets to come to watch you?’ And he said ‘yeah, yeah, of course!’ and then he bought me tickets”. Whether it is the F1 arena or the KSI’s beloved boxing ring, the British long-distance runner has a keen liking for sports involving adrenaline rush, don’t you agree?
