Jamaica has produced extraordinary athletes in the past few decades. Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, Asafa Powell, and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce are a few of the big names from the country in the track and field events. But, do these athletes get the same respect and place in their country as they provide the country by representing it on the world level? Some of the athletes don’t feel so.
According to a clip on Twitter, Jamaican Track and Field superstar Elaine Thompson-Herah agrees to a stern remark made by a legendary Jamaican athlete about her countrymen.

Elaine Thompson-Herah agrees with Asafa Powell on being treated as ‘Regular Class People’
Both Asafa Powell and Elaine Thompson have done a brilliant job of representing their country on an International level. However, recently, while talking on a show, they revealed how they are not provided with the respect and dignity they deserve in their country.
#ASAFA: "Jamaican people don't respect & they try to categorize & put us in the same circle as some regular .."#ELAINE: Regular class people#ASAFA: C'mmon man, we are superstars, celebrities, not influencers. Don't try to put us in a basket with other regular people dem" pic.twitter.com/Oe2KDzGz5I

While 5x Olympic Gold Medalist, Elaine was speaking about how randomly she was treated in her country, despite doing so much for the country. Powell continued with his view on the same topic, and said, “Jamaican people don’t respect & they try to categorize & put us in the same circle as some regular.” Moreover, Elaine agreed with him and said, “they don’t, they don’t.”
Powell continued, “C’mmon man, we are superstars, celebrities, not influencers. We have a talent, we go to the Olympic Games, we represent our country. Don’t try to put us in a basket with other regular people.”
Why did Elaine call it all ‘Business’?
In the same show, while chatting with Powell, Elaine revealed why it is all business. Elaine said, “Everybody do something to make a living. I do what I do to make a living. People saying if I know I was not fit why I went to World Champs? I just signed a contract baby, If I didn’t go I would not squeeze in that bronze even though I know I was not healthy.”

Elaine had to participate and won at least bronze to maintain the contract, which would otherwise be cut off. This is why Powell and Elaine both termed it all as business and nothing friendly.
