In an interview with Athletics Weekly on Instagram, Jake Wightman opened up about his iconic moments on track and field. One particular moment stood out when he connected with the 2023 World Athletic Champion in the 1500m race, Josh Kerr of Great Britain, after Kerr secured gold at the 2023 World Championships, defeating the iconic Jakob Ingebrigtsen. After revealing the camaraderie, Wightman shared how he and Kerr identified Ingebrigtsen’s vulnerabilities, forming a bond over their strategic tactics.

Sharing his plans as the 2024 Paris Olympics draw near and the advice he would offer Ingebrigtsen, Wightman remarked, “Jakob [Ingebrigtsen] has lost two world finals in a row where he’s been the favorite. It’s going to kind of teach him that he needs to respect the rest of us a little bit more,” expressing hope for an exhilarating showdown at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Jake Wightman of Great Britain was not the favorite to win because of formidable competitors like Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Spain’s Mohamed Katir. With a time of  3:29.23 and a PB, Jake Wightman surged to the finish line, leaving Ingebrigtsen following him in 3:29.47 and Spain’s Mohamed Katir earning a bronze in 3:29.90.
