Despite LSU Tigers’ 3-2 triumph over the opponent, Iowa Hawkeyes at the NCAA basketball finals on Monday, the team hasn’t been able to whole-heartedly celebrate their moment. Soon after their win, First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, invited the winning team to the White House as an honor. However, she also mentioned that she intends to invite the Hawkeyes as a token of sportsmanship. This didn’t sit well with the LSU team as well as star player, Angel Reese.

The 20-year-old subtly condemned Lady Biden’s stance and claimed it wouldn’t have been the same had the Hawkeyes won. As a result, notable athletes and fans took sides in the case. Many fans conjectured this might influence her future in the sport. They correlated it somewhat to track icon, Sha’Carri Richardson’s fate in the community. Hence, the news reached the sprinter itself, and today, she opined her viewpoint on Instagram. Here’s what she said.

Sha’Carri Richardson stands in support of the LSU

Taking to her Instagram, the 23-year-old track star shared a brief snippet of Reese speaking on the issue. “If we were to lose, we would not be getting an invite to the White House,” the 6’3” athlete can be heard saying. She publicly addressed her opinion on the matter, and the team is speculating to reject the precious invite. Hence, Richardson backed their stance, and wrote, “She told no lies here!! I really hope they don’t go.”

Furthermore, the star forward recalled the First Lady’s speech, and said, “And I remember she made a comment about: both team should be invited because it was sportsmanship, and I’m like, are you saying that because of what I did? Stuff like that it bothers me.” The two teams got into a feud after Reese imitated Iowa’s Caitlin Clark’s signature John Cena move. Hence, her recent actions were subject to severe backlash.
