There is little surprise in watching Erriyon Knighton, the American sprinting sensation breaking records. In the ongoing Tom Jones Invitational, at Percy Beard Track, Gainesville, Florida, Knighton recorded his new 400m personal best to win the third heat. Track and Field enthusiast, oluwadare, revealed the final results in his tweet, as he applauded the 19-year-old for his new achievement this season.

Knighton has been in brilliant form recently, as he is running some of his best races. Whether it is 100m or 400m, which are certainly not his primary events, he has been able to provide his personal bests in both of them.

Erriyon Knighton has been one of the sprinters to have a close eye on in the last few years. His elite performances have given some tough competition to the previous records set by the track and field legends like Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, and Michael Johnson, among others. However, this time around, he hasn’t threatened anyone else’s record. But he bettered his own. As oluwadare mentioned in his tweet, “Erriyon Knighton wins the third section of the men’s 400m at the Tom Jones Invitational in a new Personal Best (PB) of 46.15s!”

In Tom Jones Invitational 2023, Knighton recorded his new personal best by covering 400m in 46.15s, breaking his previous personal best of 47.48s, which he set in 2019. Knighton recorded this time in the third heat of the 3 heats events. However, Jereem Richards of Trinidad & Tobago became the overall winner by recording the timing of 44.68s.

Giving back-to-back phenomenal performances is not an easy task to do, especially when it doesn’t fall under the primary events. 100m and 400m events are not the primary categories of the 19-year-old sprinter. However, he has recorded his personal bests to begin the season. Although he got some natural help with the 100m sprint held back on April 1st this year.

Knighton began his outdoor season with a bang as he recorded 9.98s in a 100m sprint. And this swift pace brings him into the elite bracket of the sprinters. However, the wind level was 0.1 m/s above the legal level, which might have helped him. Whereas Jelani Walker (10.01s) and Joseph Fahnbulleh (10.04s) were right behind him as they secured second and third positions.
