Sha’Carri Richardson once again proved why she’s such a revered name in the track and field community. Only days ago, the reigning 100m world champ announced her decision not to compete in the 2024 Miramar Invitational. However, that didn’t halt her from lending a helping hand when Jamaican star Shashalee Forbes had to end her 100m dreams on a bitter note.

Only hours ago, fans were left with an aching heart when news of Forbes’ misfortune reached the world. While the 2016 Olympic medalist struggled to find help from anyone close by, it was two of her possible 2024 Paris Olympics opponents, Sha’Carri Richardson and two-time World Championships gold medalist Twanisha Terry, who reacted without hesitation to make sure the Jamaican’s pain wasn’t amplified further.

A recent post on X by Rori Dunk showed the humble side of Sha’Carri Richardson and Terry, accompanied by a heartwarming photo. After Forbes’ injury, assistance to get her off the track was slow to arrive, when the two rushed in to help. Another post on social media further highlighted how Shashalee wasn’t extended any help from the ground staff or her teammates while “she was in pain in the corner“.

On the other hand, Richardson made fans go frantic only days ago with her announcement to stay away from the tracks for this year’s Miramar Invitational. Because the Olympics are only four months away, track and field stars around the world are looking to make the most of every possible opportunity to flex their skills for the world to gasp over. However, despite her decision, Sha’Carri also made it clear that she will be present at the Florida event nonetheless. And she did have a lot to take in, too, like everyone else present in the stands.

Miramar Invitational lets athletes display their prowess in all its glory

The Miramar Invitational was filled to the brim with action. In the women’s 100m race, the USA and Jamaica dominated the tracks, pushing each other to the brink. Melissa Jefferson of the US was the first to cross the finishing line with 11:19 on the clock, with her national colleague Destiny Smith-Barnett coming in second (11.28). All the top five spots were taken by Team USA, while Jamaica secured the sixth spot with 11.43. Sada Williams of Bermuda won the women’s 200m race with the USA’s Kynnedy Flannel trailing in third place.

Christian Coleman maintained a steady pace and finished the men’s 200m event in second place (20.43). Taylor Banks had a disappointing end to the men’s 100m, finishing in 12th place. With 10.28 on the clock, American Courtney Lindsey took the first spot in the same 100m race, ensuring a gold came USA’s way in Florida.
