Sha’Carri Richardson has become a household name in the track and field world. Her recent successes at the 2023 World Track and Field Championships have been proof that she is here to rule. Even though the mega event is over, the 23-year-old is still making headlines. However, this time around, the sprinter hilariously questioned her esteemed college.

Notably, LSU has produced countless athletes over the years, and Armand Mondo Duplantis is one of them. Although he belongs to a different discipline, he and Sha’Carri share a great friendship bond. Taking this further, Richardson has now made a request to the LSU.

Unhappy Sha’Carri Richardson questions LSU

LSU, the institution that witnessed the birth of this extraordinary friendship, recently took to Twitter to celebrate the return of school. In a playful tweet, they whimsically arranged cut-outs of track and field athletes on numbered lunch tables, inviting students to pick their lunch companions. Tables with names (1-5) were assigned to various athletes. Table 2, notably, featured Burrell, Duplantis, Jones, and Pedigo. Richardson, known for her unapologetic candor, couldn’t help but voice her feelings.

Sha’Carri reposted the image and asked a simple yet daring question, “Could I change tables?” It was evident that Richardson longed to be closer to someone special, someone seated at Table 2—her cherished friend, Mondo Duplantis. The post emerged just hours before Duplantis was set to compete in the Diamond League meeting in Brussels on September 8, 2023, where he was poised for greatness.

Talking about the bond these two share with each other, few days back Sha’Carri had said, “he’s one of my favorite people in the world.” She went on saying, “We came into LSU together and did a lot of amazing things there. Now we’re on the professional level, doing our thing.” Just like Richardson, her friend is also a champion in his field. During the Brussels Diamond League 23, he came close to breaking his own record.

In Brussels, Mondo Duplantis, the reigning pole vault world record holder, took to the field with the hopes of further etching his name into the annals of track and field history. He cleared 6.10 meters with graceful ease but faced the relentless challenge of clearing 6.19 meters and 6.23 meters—heights that would have marked new world records.

Despite coming short of this feat, Duplantis clinched victory, outperforming his competitors, Sam Kendricks and Piotr Lisek. The conditions in Brussels, marked by swirling winds, posed a formidable obstacle to all the pole vaulters, making the night more challenging than anticipated.

Not to be overshadowed, Richardson, the reigning 100-meter world champion, continues to make her mark in the world of sprinting. Her accomplishments on the track have been nothing short of extraordinary, cementing her status as one of the fastest athletes on the planet.
