Home/Olympics

For track and field athletes, pushing the limits is part and parcel of the job. As the Paris Olympics inch closer, runners from around the country are gearing up for the last stretch to the final showdown. While some of the country’s top talents are looking overseas to take up new stripes for the Olympics, others are doing everything in their control to bring out the best in them.

In a recent social media post, ‘On Athletics Club’ sprinter, Josette Andrews’ spectacular progress took the spotlight, and track and field fans are bracing up for a thrilling time at the Olympic Games. The middle runner has carved out a name for herself in the 5000m event, and it looks like she’s determined to bring glory to her country as she runs the extra mile to make sure she becomes a force to be reckoned with in Paris later this year.

In a post on X by Citius Mag, Andrews’ dedication has been shared with the fans by her coach Dathan Ritzenhein. The OAC trainer acknowledged that it wasn’t a great start for the 28-year-old, but also mentioned that Andrews rose up to the challenges. “She could hardly lift the bar in the gym“, stated Ritzenhein.

However, he also stated that with continued development, Josette will now run for the Olympic qualifiers of 14:52.00 at Boston when she competes in the John Thomas Terrier Invitational.

Andrews’ trainer also said that she had to work on a lot of the basic things throughout the year, especially on her volume. “There was a lot of time throughout the year where there were foundational things that we needed to build on so that she could run more“, said Ritzenhein. However, things have taken a turn in recent days, claimed her coach.

She’s been able to bump up her training too in total volume“, revealed Josette’s coach, highlighting her stellar development. Now, with Andrews out of the action for quite some time, fans hope the USA’s Olympic dream continues to shine bright as she looks to qualify for the world’s biggest sporting event this Saturday.

A promising talent waiting to make her mark

While Andrews waits for the confirmation of her ticket to the French capital, she is already the No. 7 name on the US all-time outdoor list. And yet, Ritzenhein thinks Josette needs to push harder to qualify for the Olympic standard. He believes that the weekend’s event offers the perfect stage for Andrews to get a move on things and secure her spot in the national team.

One Take at a Time
Growing up, I didn’t really have an interest in Olympic sports, but it was always something intriguing. As I found the means and the opportunity to explore its world, I found sports like volleyball, and track & field to be something that had tons to offer instead of just scoring through kills and sprinting toward the finish line. Whether it is Nebraska Huskers dominating the court or Noah Lyles maintaining his winning spree on the tracks, these two sports never fail to serve adrenaline rush to their spectators.
