How she championed Team USA at the 2023 World Athletics Championships

At the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Team USA women geared up for the 4x400m mixed relay. Among the USA’s quartet, consisting of Justin Robinson, Rosey Effiong, and Matthew Boling, was Alexis Holmes, who was poised to make waves. The race was incredibly close, with the Netherlands initially leading and looking like they would win. The Dutch team, led by Femke Bol, was in the lead, but in the race’s final stretch, Bol slipped and fell just before the finish line. This allowed Alexis Holmes from Team USA to overtake her and cross the finish line first.

This led Team USA’s quartet to win the gold medal and even set a new world record with a time of 3:08.80, breaking the previous record of 3:09.34. As the race ended in disappointment for the Dutch team, Great Britain won the silver medal at 3:11.06, and Czechia won the bronze at 3:11.98. As the new national title holder at the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships, track fans applaud Alexis Holmes and hope to see her make waves as the 2024 Olympic year continues to unfold.
