However, while Helen Maroulis & Co. is waiting to get on the mat, Jordan Burroughs has chosen to refrain from participating.

Bearing in mind that Burroughs was recently seen training to get back to his old weight class, speculations about the 2012 Olympic gold medalist’s decision only grow wilder. And yet, Burroughs seems to be unwavering in the situation as he receives more support from a doting family. In the first image of the post, the proud couple can be seen in a candid moment. An adorable Banner taking a quick nap in daddy’s arms only overshadowed the animated exchange of expressions between the two. Wrestling fans will be assured to see how combat sports run in the Burroughs family as Beacon seems to have his father in a quite impressive submission hold. In another, Beacon and sister Ora can be seen making an early start to their training as both look comfortable scaling the rope.

A long and winding road ahead

While Burroughs can be seen holding his baby daughter playfully by the scruff, his focus remains fixated on the prize. The Olympic team trials are near and the Zagreb Open will see a lot of his colleagues making statement performances and the 3-time Big 12 gold medalist will have to fight one out with many of his peers for a spot in the national team.
