Surfers find the massive waves of the sea terrifying and adventurous. But for surfing demigod Raimana van Bastolaer, the monster ocean waves offer an opportunity to display his unique expertise in surfing. Watching him surf the heaviest waves sends chills across one’s spine.

Back in 2013, Raimana, a native of Tahiti, mesmerized the spectators with his surfing skills when he had to confront arguably the heaviest wave in history. The calmness and composure with which he surfed through the wave without being swept away were remarkable.

The surfing legend had humble beginnings which taught him to be grateful for everything. Raimana started off as a boogie boarder but later switch to surfing in 1996. And the decision turns out to be excellent for him as he made an irreplaceable place as a surfer in the history of Tahiti. But what he did in May 2013 created history.

He had dared to ride on some of the biggest waves in the world. People were appalled by his courage and skill in riding the monster wave. Surfers such as Carlos Burle and Maya Gabeira have also dared to ride the biggest of all the locks but none could reach the proficiency with which Raimana managed to do it. The calmness with which he tackled the monster waves is commendable.

The wave has swept away many riders who dared to ride it. Riders could be seen trying their luck at riding the wave using shortboards and jetskis. The chilling clip of surfers riding on the magnificent white wave on YouTube left people jaw-dropped.

The video on YouTube garnered a lot of views and comments for the surfing demigod. “Just watching this video almost gives me a panic attack… These guys are absolute BEASTS.  I just can’t even begin to imagine how thoroughly terrifying it must be to be out there.” read a comment on the video.

“I only have the biggest respect and admiration to those Brave Ladies and Gentleman who have what it takes to ride this Awesome Wave” says a commenter. “Being in that wave must be the greatest feeling ever” opines another viewer.
