Moreover, he started bunking classes and finally took a semester off to embark on his pro climbing journey. He trained for the National Climbing Championships and never continued his college education. Reportedly, his monthly expenses were below $1000 around 2004 to 2009.

Alex Honnold’s El Capitan climb was as the center of the Nat Geo documentary Free Solo and also won the Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2018. That was just the icing on the cake. Honnold’s mighty courage and passion reflect his iconic climbing voyage. Hence, he derived the nickname Alex ‘No Big Deal’ Honnold. Well, for climbers around the world, he’s certainly a big deal.
