The European crisis has affected everyone globally, one more than the other. In light of the same, champion skier Mikaela Shiffrin recently took to Instagram expressing her emotions over the ongoing political conflict in the world. Moreover, she also took a minute to remember her late father on his 68th birthday and penned an emotional tribute to him.

An important influence in her career, Shiffrin did not want her father to see mankind at its worse. Notably, her father passed away back in 2020 in a shock accident. Remembering him now, she poured her heart out on Instagram.

After suffering two crashes in her first two events, Mikaela Shiffrin had a disappointing Olympic Games. She could not add to her tally of two Olympic gold medals and left Beijing heartbroken. She revealed how, during that time, she wanted to ‘call him’. At arguably the lowest point in her career, she looked up to him for inspiration.

“He would probably tell me to get over it, but he’s not here to say that, so on top of everything else I am pretty angry at him too,” said Shiffrin.

On the business front, Mikaela is now preparing for the events to come. But despite being the World No. 1 and given the champion that she is, Mikaela will have a tough time focusing on the competition amidst the global atrocities.
