The retirement of Shaun White has left a huge void in the snowboarding world. Winning major competitions became customary for the talented snowboarder. But after the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, he decided to close the curtain on a glittering career.

Right now, he is on vacation with his girlfriend, Nina Dobrev, enjoying the fruits of his labor. However, when asked about returning to the sport, he had an interesting take on the matter.

As Tom Brady came out of retirement, questions have arisen whether other athletes would do the same. Usain Bolt posted a cryptic message of him training behind the scenes; although there are no confirmed reports of his return. And as for White, here’s what he had to say.

Shaun White talks about returning to the sport

Following a fourth-place finish in the recently concluded half-pipe competition in Beijing, White called it quits after two decades of thrills and spills. He won three Olympic gold medals and several X Games medals in both snowboarding and skateboarding. Hence, the world of extreme sports hopes someday he returns to grace the surface once again.

But for now, he just wants to take a break and enjoy retirement life, not thinking about coming back to the sport. He told ET that a return like Tom Brady was off the cards.

“So many people messaged me his like, ‘I belong on the field,’ I was like, ‘ugh, do I belong on the snow? I don’t know. I need a minute. I’m enjoying every bit of this, so, it would take me a bit longer to get re-motivated to do something like that, but no I’m gonna enjoy this. I’m done. I’m good,” said White.

Even though he looks fit and in great shape, he quashed any chances of coming back to snowboarding. Tom Brady’s retirement sent shock waves; hence, his return to the sport was nothing less than historic.

Tom Brady returns

The sensational Brady returns after suffering a loss against the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round of the playoffs. The 44-YO phenomenon led the league in yards passing (5,316), touchdowns (43), completions (485), and attempts (719) in 2021.

However, according to Tom, he has unfinished business in the league.

That being said, unlike Tom, Shaun has no intentions to return. He is enjoying his time with Dobrev, basking in retirement joy. But for a man who has dedicated almost 2 decades of his life to the sport, do you think White will struggle with motivation to come back to the sport?
