Carli has been an integral part of the ‘golden generation’ of the USWNT. In what is surely going to be an emotional day for everyone involved, Lloyd will represent USA for the final time against South Korea.
“It’s bittersweet and going to be extremely emotional but there is no greater feeling than representing the crest and playing for my country. “We always want to keep improving and evolving as a team, win every game we play, and put on a good show for the fans, but during this camp, we will really focus on a few basic things–continuing to support each other while getting to do what we love on the field, and of course, giving Carli Lloyd the send-off she deserves,” said Andonovski.
The soccer superstar won two Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012, two World Cups in 2015 and 2019 while also becoming Fifa Player of the Year twice in 2015 and 2016. One of her most iconic moments came during the 2015 World Cup when she scored a remarkable goal from the halfway line against Japan.
