“I Feel Very Lucky”: Megan Rapinoe Makes a Heartwarming Statement on Partner Sue Bird

Both Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird are two of the most influential personalities in the world today. Through both their relationship and their profession, they continue to inspire people around the world. Rapinoe won the World Cup with the USWNT in 2015 and 2019 while also winning the Olympic gold medal.

As for Sue, she is the only player in WNBA history to win three titles in three decades and is regarded as one of the greatest players to ever play the game.

However, with all their sporting achievements beside them, they share a wonderful relationship. During a recent interview, Rapinoe talked about some of the most inspiring women in her career, placing Bird the highest on that list.

Megan Rapinoe’s heartfelt message to Sue Bird

Being at the forefront of most social issues, both entities have always been vocal in their opinions on different matters. Rapinoe is known for her charity works, raising social awareness, and playing a significant role in women’s empowerment. Notably, when she was recently asked about her favorite personalities, she first mentioned Patrisse Cullors and Nikole Hannah Jones. However, she was quick to talk about her better half as well.

“And I live with an inspiring woman—my fiancée, Sue. [Sue Bird, the WNBA star and five-time Olympic medalist.] You know, I try not to ever take for granted just getting to watch her up close every day, the struggles and the good times. I feel very lucky to be with someone that’s changing the world.”

“Sometimes it’s like: She’s my partner, I know everything about her, we get up and have coffee, yada yada yada, all the normal stuff. But then when I really step back it’s like, “Oh, wow! This is an incredible woman in history that I get to share my life with,” said Rapinoe.

Both of them continue to draw plaudits for her approach to different social issues. Indeed, Bird and Rapinoe share a lovely relationship and help the community in different ways.

As of right now, Rapinoe is fighting for equal pay for women in the sport. A prominent advocate of social issues, Rapinoe is constantly trying to bridge the financial gap between male and female players.

Undoubtedly, she continues to influence players to vocalize their opinions and fight for their rights. At a time when the world needs leaders at the helm, Rapinoe and Bird set an example with their actions and contribution both on and off the field.
