The success story of Megan Rapinoe is one for the ages. Winning an Olympic gold medal, coupled with two World Cups in 2015 and 2019, she cemented her legacy as one of the greats of the game. Now, the talented athlete will be partnering with Nike to launch her own clothing line. Hence, this calls for a throwback to her relationship with the multinational brand.

With her collaboration with Nike, she aims to promote her style, while helping to break different stereotypes in society. Notably, as the news broke out, a fan shared an inspirational anecdote about the time she met Rapinoe at a Nike event. Significantly, the fan talked about how Rapinoe initially couldn’t attend the event.
Megan Rapinoe left out
In reply to Rapinoe’s incredible collaboration with Nike, a fan named Hailey Marsh recalled her meet with Rapinoe in 2011. Moreover, Marsh narrated how Megan was at the same event as her, but was standing outside instead. When Rapinoe tweeting about the same, Marsh opened the side door and snuck Rapinoe in.

Now, exactly ten years later, from being snuck in at an event, to having her own fashion line with that same company, Rapinoe has come a long way. The signature collection is named ‘Nike x Megan’. Notably, not only does she wish to bring out her sense of style, but she also wants to create a change in society.

A great idea with Nike
Her logo is based on her career, aiming to redefine the term victory. She titled the line “Victory Redefined”. Happy to start this new venture, Rapinoe threw some light on her collaboration with the company, and what she aims to achieve through this partnership.
“When I spoke with Nike about the next chapter in our relationship, what excited us most was building something new. This is not about me and Nike, it’s about what Nike and I can do together…to redefine what victory means for all communities and all people,” said Rapinoe.
