Deep sea diving and snorkeling are the best ways to witness the spectacle that resides deep within the ocean. While underwater diving seems fascinating, it comes with a series of vicious dangers lurking beneath the salty reverie. Therefore, to keep snorkelers protected from underwater threats, cage diving was introduced. However, these oceanic predators understand no boundaries and can attack when the cage diver least expects it to.
Shark cage diving was introduced for underwater photography, scientific observations, and tourist activities. Nevertheless, television networks like Discovery and National Geographic have made some really commendable discoveries by diving into the sea with the help of protective cages. However, while it sounds easy to dive with iron bars surrounding you, it is equally difficult when a starving shark is circling the cage. Likewise, a Discovery UK crew once almost fell prey to ravenous shark clutches while cage-diving in New Zealand.
Shark attacks a glass cage diver rooting to gain underwater scrutiny

In January 2023, the YouTube channel, Claws, compiled shark attack videos and shared the scary video with netizens. At one point in the compilation, a man from Discovery UK girded up his loins, to go underwater, in a glass cage, to get a better understanding of the sharks. While one man stayed in the cage, the other was seen shooting the aquatic episode from afar.
Commenting on the underwater activities, the camera person stated, “This is a totally different ball game from New Zealand”. The videographer further mentioned, “Kind of have an idea of how many sharks are around just by looking down”.

Nevertheless, the great white sharks start to circle their prey encompassed in a small glass case. Conceding with the number of sharks, the cameraman reported, “There’s five of them in the same frame. They’re all circling around the cage”. Unfortunately, the cage door flies open, and the shark attacks right at that moment. From behind the lens, the videographer asserted, “They’re trying to get in, Woah!”.

However, the diver managed to “push a shark out of the cage” by giving a nudge on the edge of the shark’s nose. Following this, the other team members pulled the cage out of the water to help the divers return to the safety of the boat. It really was a close call indeed. Nonetheless, the diver’s moxie to fight back against the beast is really appreciable, don’t you think?
