Kelly Slater is probably the greatest competitive surfer in the history of the sport. He has been competing on the international level since he was just 17 years old. Moreover, Slater has won a record 11-time world championship in surfing, which is the highest for anyone in the world. From those 11, he conquered another record of winning five consecutive world championships.
However, the important thing here is he continues to compete even now at the age of 50. His love for the sport makes him fit and competitive, even at this age. Other than surfing, Slater loves to play golf as an alternate sport. Recently, Slater revealed his ideal golf course location.

Kelly Slater is an incredible surfer. He has an amazing relationship with water and the tides that makes him the best to compete. However, as an alternate sport, Slater loves to play golf. Slater first played golf when he was 23 when a bunch of friends took him to play golf. Notably, he didn’t know much about how to play back then.
But surprisingly, Slater hit the ball from the middle of the club from the first shot. And the upcoming week, he bought his own kit and started playing golf. Lona asked, “Something about playing golf by the sea must be particularly special for you. Slater replied, “Yeah, actually I don’t really like playing up the hills if I can’t see the ocean.”

He continued, “If I could see the ocean, I can read the greens really well because it’s a big level right, the horizon. I need to see that line; I need to see that big level and then I can kind of read any putt, really. But yeah, I love playing near the ocean obviously, but not when the waves are good.”

Kelly Slater has been showing his contention for 30 long years now. The uniqueness of Slater is that he still competes with the same passion he used to do in his 20s. Slater turned professional in 1990 and was finding his way into settling in for two years. In the first two years of his pro career, he stood 90th and 43rd.
Whereas in 1993, he began to find his way toward getting closer to success before beginning his domination. Thereafter, it was the domination period of the surfing legend. From 1994 to 1998, Slater dominated the sport and was crowned champion every year during that period. After 1998, he even took a break from competitive surfing. But he came back in the early 2000s and is continuously competing since then.

Even in golf, Kelly Slater loves to be near the sea. One may even call him the real Aquaman of the world, who loves the water and its presence around him to play sports with more concentration.
