John John Florence and Mick Fanning are among the top surfers in the world. Each one of them is known for its specialty. Naturally, when the two top talents of different teams come together, the conversation is bound to be impressive.

While Mick Fanning is known for his combination of high speed and intricate turns, Florence is considered “one of the most dominant pipe surfers of his era.” The two stars of varied expertise got together for a little chat in 2020.

In April 2020, John Florence joined Mick Fanning on a video call with Sam McIntosh. They later posted the video on the YouTube channel, Stab: We like to surf. On the call, the three-spoke about a diverse range of topics. From their styles to injuries to rehabs and favorite surgeons.

At some point in the call, Fanning addressed a question to Florence related to the stigma attached to him and his competitive image.

Sharing his story, Florence revealed that he spends a huge chunk of his time and life thinking about surfing and competitions. Furthermore, he spends most of his time planning out his strategies and remains focused.

Impressed by his dedication, Fanning shared how he looks at Florence. “I almost look at you as the Roger Federer of our sport. Roger Federer, in his early years, gave zero emotion. Even still, to this day, he keeps zero emotions,”

Mick said. “He’s just won and I feel like that’s where you are and people don’t appreciate it. I wish they would see how competitive you really were sometimes,” he added.

Born in June 1981, Mick Fanning is an Australian Surfer. He is among the greatest surfers in Australia. He started his career with the 1999 Men’s CT. Throughout his career, Fanning has won 22 Tours with 5 Top finishes. Additionally, he also has 3 World Titles added to his name.

Named after the son of John F. Kennedy, John John Florence is a surfer from Hawaii, United States. The 30-year-old star won the World Surf League, the most elite competition of the sport, for two consecutive years in 2016 & 2017. The Hawaiian surfer’s current net worth is around $12M.
