“Just a Dream!”: Winning Over the Menacing but Admirable Lure of Pipeline Pained This Young Surfer Since Childhood

The core requirements for the sport of surfing are flair, passion, and zest to perform it. However, one other important thing, which enables one to surf the big azure waves is moxie and bravery. Recently Billabong Pro Pipeline champion Moana Jones-Wong, who courageously conquered the pipeline wave appeared in an interview to talk about its vicious nature.

Hawaiian surfer Jones-Wong talks about her dream of surfing the Pipeline and how she feels after finally achieving it.

Woman surfer opened up about Pipeline

2022 Pipeline winner Moana Jones-Wong talked with Vans about the dangerous nature of the Billabong Pipeline wave. The 23-year-old jokingly said, “I would actually dream about it almost every night that I could serve pipe and then I would wake up and I’d be like, Oh it’s just a dream”.

The young surfer further shared, “The first time I surfed real pipe was when I was 18”. The Oahu resident then appreciated former world tour surfer, Rochelle Ballard for her surfing prompt in Blue Crush. “I never saw a woman drop in on the weight of pipe except for on a blue crush”, added Moana.

Moana Jones-Wong’s victory over Billabong Pipeline

Jones-Wong earned worldwide recognition after conquering this year’s Pipeline wave, which originated at Oahu’s North shore. The young surfer gained the title of Billabong Pro Pipeline champion by beating five-time world champion, Carissa Moore. Wong is now widely regarded as the Queen of Pipeline.
