As per the tweet, the American athlete gave us a glimpse of his staggering confidence and physical prowess by making bold claims about competing at the next games. He said, “I feel like I have a good shot at potentially winning a medal or gold medal…”

The caption of the post read, “At age 50, the surfing GOAT @kellyslater has @Paris2024 on his mind.”

Even though the surfing sphere might expect the legend to end his mighty career soon, the athlete once revealed that he is not gonna stop even at the age of 90, irrespective of feeling old.

Retirement is a distant story for Slater

In a 2016 interview with Stab Mag, the Hall of Famer once got candid about his retirement plans. Surprisingly, he was acclaimed as the youngest (20) as well as the oldest (39) surfing champion. Thus, he stated, “I’m not retiring. I have every intention of being 90 and surfing Hawaii’s Backdoor Pipeline.”

However, the icon did confess to feeling “pretty old.” Clarifying the statement, he said, “Not mentally, just in my body.” He also mentioned that he had been working out to recover from his injuries and to maintain a robust physique for the tours.

The 50-year-old athlete, is also an entrepreneur and an environmentalist. His company, Kelly Slater Wave Co. is a futuristic initiative. It lays the foundation for artificial settings created for an enhanced surfing experience. Evidently, his passion for surfing is a lifelong story.
