Nathan Florence felt extremely connected to his wife throughout the trip

In an interview with his wife that he posted on his YouTube channel, Nathan Florence recalled the amazing time they spent together. Florence said, “…we were sharing… special moments like that. Because it would be just on a coastline somewhere at some deserted place just scoring.”

Surfing can be a dangerous sport. Surfing on a beach full of people might still give one a better chance of rescue if something goes wrong. But Nathan Florence and Mahina Florence were completely alone, and it brought them closer to each other.

“It was cool because Mahina felt included in my sessions. You know… like… some of the sessions it was just me in the water. I was surfing a dangerous wave alone, and it was just her on land. And so, like, the situation is intense because… everything is on me or on you and vice versa. But when I would get a good wave, she is the only one in the world who saw it.”, said the surfing icon.

But catching the waves alone together is not the only thing that brought them closer. Because both of them were by themselves, Mahina was acting as the official cameraperson for Nathan Florence, and she enjoyed every moment of it.

What’s it like filming Florence

When Nathan Florence asked his wife if she was bummed about filming him or stoked, she said, “I was actually really really stoked. Because we were experiencing slabs and waves together for the first time, and I think watching you push yourself and watching you be so stoked and happy and feel completed made me stoked. So I was happy. And I love filming. I love being creative, being behind the camera. So I was stoked.” Anyone would be stoked to catch Florence in his full element, cutting through waves with his surfboard.

Not only did Mahina Florence enjoy filming her husband, but she also did a pretty good job at it. In the interview, Nathan Florence revealed that many people came up to him, complimenting his videographer. And Florence would proudly reveal, “That’s my wife.” It seems like the couple connected on the trip on a whole other level.
