In rare cases, the perils of surfing drift out of the athletic outlines. Surfers seeking exotic locations with thrilling swells also interact with the local surfers around there. Hence, several aspects might come into play during such occurrences. A recent clip surfaced on the internet that displayed two surfers being harassed by local surfers at Pandawa Beach in Bali.

It also piqued surfing great, Kelly Slater’s attention. He took to the comments section of the Instagram post and mentioned a few of his surfer fellows to probe into the mishap. The footage explicitly illustrated the woman’s terror while the locals kept hitting her. Here’s what happened.

Kelly Slater is concerned about the Pandawa Beach menace

In the Instagram post by Charlie (one of the two attacked surfers), a woman was seen skilfully catching waves during a session at a scenic beach in Bali. Moments later, she was paddling out for another wave when a random man drew close and punched her face. As the caption of the post revealed, Sara immediately, fought back while the man cussed at her.

Further, into the video, an intense fistfight followed, where the man can be seen repeatedly hitting the woman. A group of locals surrounded Sara and her friend, Charlie, and watched as the men physically abused them. Although, the reason remains unknown. Eleven-time WSL champion, Slater, took notice of the issue and urged his surfer buddies to investigate the matter. He wrote, “@rizaltandjung did you see or hear about this? Get this guy @jp_azevedosurf sent home where he belongs.”

Evidently stressed, the icon tagged another surfer in a second comment and enquired about the incident. “@gio_papa_gio you know these guys? What’s the deal?” the 51-year-old surfer added. The footage is going viral and has left the surfing community shaken. The post was originally shared by Sara Taylor with a descriptive caption narrating her horrible experience.

In a recent post on Instagram, Taylor expressed her shock, while being clueless about the actual reason that encouraged it. “this is insane, does anyone know who they are?” her caption questioned. Moreover, she tried to elucidate the incident to her followers by stating, “after being dropped in on, on my first wave, the guys friend punched me in the head and then after being confronted about hitting me, he attacked Charlie on the beach for filming him.”

Several prominent surfers apologized to the woman on behalf of the community. Brazilian surfer, Filipe Toledo wrote, “Im sorry that happens to you guys! Hope you guys are ok! Don’t stress with people with this kind of energy! They don’t last long, life will comeback to them ! But hey, if we can do whatever it is to find them we will! God bless and stay safe.”
