The world of surfing has a diversity of paddling arenas. From oceans and big wave pools to lakes and wave stimulators, the sport of surfing has covered it all. But, have you ever heard of a surfing restaurant? Well, in North Texas, the concept of surf and dine is recently introduced by an entertainment restaurant chain. Interestingly, the dining and surf corporation has now started the construction of a wave pool surfing tavern in the suburbs of Dallas.

The North Texas natives usually have to commute 1,000 miles to pursue their interest in surfing. However, a surfing association viz. ‘Fireside Surf’ took the initiative to bring waves to the Texans. The organization already propelled its plans of developing a wave pool in the sunny locale of Dallas known as ‘The Colony’. More so, as per the website of Fireside Surf, the pool will have, “customizable and endless deep-water waves up to 6 feet” and will have levels for beginners and professionals. Nonetheless, the news of the surfing restaurant created a buzz among netizens and the social media cult has some intriguing perspectives about its development.

Netizens have mixed opinions about the construction of a wave pool restaurant in North Texas

As per the report of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the construction of the standing wave facility in The Colony will begin soon and the final build out is expected by August 2023. Mentioning the amenities provided by the restaurant, the Fireside Surf website penned, “Fireside provides a non-threatening entry point for new surfers, a place to unwind and cruise for casual surfers, and a freestyle playground for experienced core surfers”.

Following this, fans and surfing fanatics flocked to the comment section to share their outlooks on the same. Netizens wrote…

Some fans even compared Texas to California. One wrote, “Californating Texas”. Another one mentioned, “here comes California”. Comments like “Quit wasting the environment”, “What’s next? Crickett? Croquet? Soccer? No thanks you can keep this communist stuff in Commiefornia” and “Wasteful use of such a limited resource” brimmed the post.

While many expressed their disregard for the concept, others hailed the initiative by writing, “I’m in!”. One fan wrote, “Finally! A place where I can drink then hang 10!”. Another fan joked, “finally some water!”. Clearly, netizens have rather intriguing reactions to Fireside Surf’s unique theme. Though some are unhappy with the development, others appreciated the idea.
