Phelps achieved greatness in the swimming pool through hard work and training but never shied away from crediting his wife for that. Through rough times, Nicole weaved her magic and helped him get mentally stronger. 

As Phelps struggled with mental health throughout the years, he spoke about how his wife helped him in his life. Although they had differences, it has been a roller coaster ride.

In a recent interview, Phelps explained the struggles faced during the pandemic. Like all of us, the pandemic proved troublesome for Phelps, and he took time to adjust to the new regime. However, with the help of his wife, he could get through that phase and face reality.

Phelps shared his appreciation and felt blessed to share his life with her. “It’s my wife. My wife, bless her. She’s been through a lot. We’ve been through a lot. I wouldn’t want to go through my life with anybody else. I know she is the only one on the planet who help me get through the most difficult times that I’ve been through.”

Those dark times came at a constant rate. Every time he finished the Olympics, Phelps fell into depression. During those moments, his wife was by his side. Having a lovely partner helps to mellow down the pressure that arises in one’s mind. The pandemic put him in a tough spot, and he mentioned how they grew together. “Look, you’ve heard me talk a lot about the last 18 months, the last two years I’ve had some scary-ass times over those two years. Real dark places. Without my wife, I never would have made it through.”

The duo has been an inseparable couple. The couple met during the ESPY Awards. Nicole was an escort for Phelps in 2007, and they fell in love. It was a great moment for both as they discovered their better half. Phelps posted photos on social media for Nicole on her birthday.
