The legacy of Michael Phelps is unmatched by any other. Seeing him climb atop the podium to receive a gold medal at the Olympics became a common sight. The swimmer made winning gold at the Olympics look like a cakewalk. With 23 Olympic gold medals resting in his cabinet, Phelps holds the record for most individual Olympics wins. With such a glorious portfolio, it is hard for people to impress a member of the Phelps family.

But not for Lindsey Vonn. The Alpine skier needed only her Instagram bio to impress a vital member of the Phelps family.

Michael Phelps’ son enamored by Lindsey Vonn

The legendary Lindsey Vonn is an icon of alpine skiing. With 82 world cup victories, she holds the record for most world cup race wins. Vonn is also a three-time Olympic medalist. She is also one of the most inspirational athletes in the sporting world. Owing to this and much more, Lindsey was inducted into the US Olympics Hall of Fame alongside Michael Phelps.

Phelps brought his family along at the ceremony, giving us yet another glimpse of how he tries to maximize spending time with his family. While at the ceremony, his second eldest child, Beckett (4), was fascinated by Lindsey, as evidenced by his mother, Nicole Phelps. She posted a story on her Instagram, revealing the same.

The story on Instagram contained a photo of the Phelps family at the ceremony. Sitting in the lap of his mother was Beckett. The caption on the photo read, “Beckett was so enthralled with the evening, he had me read everyone’s bios & he was enamored by you @lindseyvonn.” Vonn noted the heartwarming story and reshared it, too.

Coming from a member of the Phelps family, the praise is high. Even though he might not understand his father’s greatness, Beckett’s admiration for Vonn cannot be undermined. The purity of childhood is joyous to behold, and this act by Beckett was the perfect example of the same.

Perhaps the highest of honors in any field is to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. A place where only the best of the best get a position. A place where legends rest with a crown on their heads. The latest to enter the Hall are Michael Phelps and Lindsey Vonn, alongside a list of some of the all-time greats in their fields.

This year’s ceremony took place at the US Olympic and Paralympic Museum on the 24th of June. It was the first time since 2019 that the ceremony took place. Before 2019, the ceremony last took place in 2012. The inductees of this year included Michelle Kwan, Billie Jean King, Mia Hamm, and Pat Summitt. Also on the list of inductees was the 1976 4×100 swimming team, led by Shirley Babashoff. The 2002 men’s Paralympic sled hockey team also got the induction.

While the honors are an impressive feat, the long pauses in the ceremony cause a delay in bestowing the honor upon some of the greatest athletes to ever take center stage.
