“Never Knew It Was This Special”- Shericka Jackson Aims to Dethrone Jamaican Queens Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce at World Athletics Championships 2022 Oregon

When the track and field fraternity puts the spotlight on Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson-Herah, there is one sprinter who has gone under the radar. During the 2020 T0kyo Olympics, the bronze medal went to Shericka Jackson. Now, she aims to better her performances and win races at the 2022 World Championships in Oregon. 

 

Elaine did the double in Tokyo while Fraser-Pryce continues to defy odds. She has four 100-meter World Championships titles and two Olympic gold medals. With the Championships arriving in Oregon, Jackson aims to get faster and deliver a sensational upset.

Shericka Jackson to the top

As Fraser-Pryce aims to win her fifth title, Jackson is right behind her by setting the fastest 100-meter time this year. While Shelly-Ann posted 10.67 seconds this year, Jackson is right behind her by setting a blistering 10.77 seconds in the 100-meter. However, in the 200-meters, she set the third-fastest time in the event’s history by setting a time of 21.55. Florence Griffith-Joyner leads the way with 21.34, while Elaine set the second-fastest time with 21.53 seconds.

Improving in each race, Jackson aims to get faster at the World Championships in Oregon. “I know I had something special, but I never knew it was this special,” said Jackson. Aiming to improve on her mistakes, she is ready for the World Championships. “I made so many mistakes in the race. I have probably two and a half weeks, so see how fast I can go.”
