US Legend Allyson Felix’s Appearance in One of Her Last Races Before Retirement Takes an Upsetting Turn

Despite being 36, Allyson Felix went to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and came back with a medal. She won the bronze medal at the 400m event and the silver medal in the 4x400m relay. With these wins, she became the most decorated US track and field athlete in US history. The “Supermom” has been performing at a superior level and keeps defying everyone’s expectations.
After her success in Tokyo, Felix was supposed to return to the track by taking part in the 300m event at the Penn Relays. But, in a shocking turn of events, there has been a hugely disappointing announcement.

Allyson Felix pulls out of the Penn Relays
Allyson’s last season of her professional racing career is off to an upsetting start. In a recent post on Twitter, the Penn Relays announced that Felix will not be taking part in the much-anticipated event.
We have been informed @allysonfelix will no longer be competing this Saturday at the #2022PennRelays presented by @Toyota.
We want to wish you the best of luck and we'll be following you through your final season!

The post also mentioned that they will follow Allyson throughout the season, since it is going to be her last. Felix had previously mentioned that she will race in 2022 but not with the Olympics on her mind. Since the World Championships are going to be held in the US for the first time this year, Allyson will look to qualify for it.

The latest news of her withdrawal has come as a huge blow to the fans. However, we hope to see the champion at the tracks during the Championship qualifiers one last time before she bids adieu.

Felix’s incredible career
After winning the two medals in Tokyo, Felix became the most decorated American Olympic track athlete of all time. She also holds the title of the most decorated athlete (male or female) in the history of the Athletics World Championships. She has won 18 career medals, with 7 of them coming from individual events while 11 come from team relays.

By winning her 12th and 13th World Championship gold medals, Felix surpassed another record. She overtook Usain Bolt for most golds by any athlete in World Athletics Championships history.
With such a remarkable career, Allyson is certainly an icon to look up to.
