Two steps forward followed by a step backward. It has been the career story of Sha’Carri Richardson since she came to fame. She is one of the best sprinters in the world, but she missed a golden opportunity to represent the USA at the 2022 World Track and Field Championships. After failing to qualify for the 100-meters, she crashed out of the 200-meter trials for the Championships. After that, she walked away from the press, not answering questions related to her performance in the race.

A similar incident happened after the 100-meter event, and Richardson left the media waiting room. Hence, fans took to Twitter to comment on her performance and criticized her for not answering the media. Soon after, she posted a tweet stating how a new platform gives fans the opportunity to question her performances, as well as connect with other athletes in the sport. But some fans were not pleased with the announcement.

Fans react to Sha’Carri Richardson’s post-race antics

Richardson finished the race by setting 22.47, ranked fifth. Kentucky’s wunderkind Abby Steiner finished the race by setting a personal best of 21.77. Thus, the trials proved to be a forgetful evening for Richardson, who continues to falter at the next hurdle. More than her race, fans were upset when she didn’t give an interview to the media presence at the event. Hence, many fans took to Twitter to explain her shortcomings.

The next step for Richardson would be significant in her career. From finishing second behind Elaine Thompson-Herah at the Nike Prefontaine Classic, Richardson looked set to dominate the race. Even with improved performances, this would be a tremendous blow after failing to qualify for the Championships. Likewise, the event is held in Oregon this year, and it would be great for her to shut down all the criticisms. With more races coming in the future, some fans remain hopeful for her future.

As several fans slated for her performance, there were some who supported the talented sprinter. She has a personal best of 10.72 in the 100-meters and hopefully can come good for the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, with work cut out for her, some fans keep supporting her and believe in her talent.
