Even at age 35, there are no signs of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce slowing down. She won her fifth World Championships gold medal and ran a stunning 100m in 10.67 seconds. The iconic sprinter arrived in Oregon as a crowd favorite and she did not disappoint her fans. Second place went to Shericka Jackson as 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Elaine Thompson-Herah, finished third.

Moreover, the final standings are similar to the fastest times set this year by these three Jamaicans. Fraser-Pryce set 10.67 seconds earlier this year and set the pace. Thus, this comes as a sensational performance for the talented Jamaican.

Yet another gold for Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce

Shelly-Ann had a terrific start off the blocks and there was no challenge to the Mommy-rocket, as she ran to glory. Jackson finished the race second with a time of 10.73 seconds. Thompson-Herah could only manage 10.81 and finished third. Currently, Fraser-Pryce has two Olympic gold medals and five World Championship gold medals. She claimed her first gold in 2009 and then won another three in 2013, 2015, and 2o19. Thus, it is one of the greatest sprinting performances of all time with the iconic Usain Bolt winning just three World Championship medals. To run faster each year is a testament to her hard work and dedication as Fraser-Pryce soars on.

Ever since she made her breakthrough back in 2008, Shelly-Ann raised the level for women sprinters. Consistently putting on stunning times, she is one of the best sprinters in the world. She completed a double during the 2008 Beijing and defended her title at 2012 London Olympics. With the 200-meter very much in her plans, Fraser-Pryce aims to complete a double in this year’s Worlds.

Can Elaine Thompson-Herah bounce back?

As Fraser-Pryce took home the gold, the Tokyo Olympics 2020 gold medalist Elaine Thompson-Herah managed bronze. She finished by setting 10.81 and could not win her first World Championships individual gold medal. The two Jamaicans along with Shericka Jackson are one of the best sprinters in the world. Thus, on a professional level, finishing 1, 2, and 3 is a great result for the country. But on a personal level, Thompson-Herah would want more.

With the 200-meter competition next, it would be interesting to see the race. Adding Abby Steiner to the mix is an interesting prospect for all. Hence, fans cannot wait for the start of the race as the Jamaicans look to dominate it, yet again.
