The Penn State Wrestling team has never disappointed the collegiate wrestling spectators, as the teams always come up with exciting showdowns on the wrestling mat. Besides this, the Penn State Wrestling team also features three-time national champions Aaron Brooks and Carter Starocci. Despite boasting some of the incredible talents on the team, Penn State’s wrestlers failed to mark their presence on a recent list.

Recently, the NCAA released the Coaches Poll list featuring the team’s rankings on its official website. Even though Penn State’s wrestlers are missing from the initial rankings, as a team it dazzled.  

Nittany Lions Reigning Supreme

As per the recent rankings by the NCAA Division 1 Coaches Poll, Nittany Lions has only four wrestlers taking up initial ranks. Besides this, only ten wrestlers from the team have managed to find a spot in these rankings. Even though the Nittany Lions have been facing a major upset at wrestlers rankings, the team has secured first place in NCAA Division 1 Coaches Poll Team Rankings. To share the moment of triumph among spectators, NCAA Wrestling took to their official Twitter handle and posted a picture of rankings achieved by various wrestling teams at the NCAA Division 1 Coaches Poll with the picture, NCAA Wrestling penned, “Week #12 @NWCAWrestling Rankings“

Only four Nittany Lions, Braeden Davis (11), Aaron Nagao (2), Beau Bartlett (2), and Mitchell Mesenbrink (7), have made it to achieve a spot in the rankings. To qualify for the NCAA coach rankings, wrestlers are required to be starters and must have played at least eight matches in their respective weight class. Apart from this, they are also required to perform on the mat once in the last 20 days.

Unfortunately, most of the Penn State Wrestling stars could not make it to the iteration of the 2024 coaches list because of these strict guidelines. But, to the spectator’s surprise, Penn State kept with their expectations. Even though Penn State Wrestlers could not find a place for themselves in the rankings, the team reigns supreme.

What are the top teams in the NCAA Coaches Poll?

Nittany Lions stood atop the podium at the NCAA Division 1 Coaches Poll Wrestling ranks as the team stayed unbeaten. In the last few matches, the team managed to defeat the opponent teams, Michigan State and Wolverines. Consequently, the Penn State wrestling team added 2-0 to the team’s total of 6-0, along with 350 points, to acquire the first rank in the coaches poll.

But, Nittany Lions is not the only team showcasing prowess at the NCAA Coaches Poll as Big Ten teams shine astonishingly at the rankings. While five teams have been ranked in the top 10, eight schools have taken up a spot in the top 25 rankings. Penn State Wrestling team is followed by Iowa at No. 3, Nebraska at No. 6, Ohio State at No.7, and Michigan at NO. 11, Minnesota at No.9, Rutgers at No. 13, and Wisconsin at No. 21.
