There are a lot of great moments in the life of the Great One, Wayne Gretzky. This includes his daughter Paulina Gretzky’s marriage to professional golfer Dustin Johnson. They got engaged way back in August 2013 and finally tied the knot earlier this year. This was a pretty emotional moment for the NHL champ.

The Great One, however, had another moment to be emotional about. Walter Gretzky and Phyllis Hockin got married on the same date, as Paulina in 1960. They both lived happily for five decades. Sadly, both of them didn’t live to watch their granddaughter’s big day, but they would have been happy to see her marry the ace golfer.

Gretzky Gets Emotional on a Memorable Day

During their wedding day, Janet Jones, Gretzky’s wife, posted an adorable message on Instagram with a picture of the bride’s father. The post reads, “Wayne waiting for his little girl to appear for her and Dustin’s Big Day 4/23/22 which happen to be the same day that his own parents married Walter and Phylis.” 

The wedding was grand, just like the Great One’s daughter’s wedding should be. It took place at Blackberry Farm, a luxury resort in the Great Smoky Mountains near Knoxville, Tennessee. The whole celebration involved family and friends from all over the world. In front of them, they exchanged their vows. This wedding was also termed a tribute by the Great One to his beloved mother and father.
