The incident, as reported by CBS News, horrified New Yorkers who saw yet another innocent life taken by this ridiculous online fad. A 14-year-old Brooklyn youngster met the same awful end on June 22 after being shoved from an L train, also suffering severe injuries. Another guy who joined him on this crazy mission also suffered severe injuries when he was pushed from the subway car.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority reported that there were 52 cases of people using the subway without being inside a vehicle in February and 58 cases in January. Mayor Eric Adams has criticized social media for encouraging young people to attempt the risky prank, and he has urged platforms like TikTok to remove such content.
