If someone asked us to describe the word dominance, it’s none other than the Nebraska Huskers women’s volleyball team that truly deserves that title. 22 matches, all wins in a row, that too against top-ranked teams. Heck, sitting at the top and not losing a single set in conference play, with their last one dropped way back on September 16 against Creighton, boy, have they raised the bar.

And the reason they deserve such commendation isn’t just because of this season, but because of what they’ve been building for quite a while now. You can imagine the kind of impact they’ve had when recognition for their dominance comes from beyond the volleyball world. Stepping up to do exactly that was none other than Alex Morgan, who was quick to acknowledge Nebraska’s dominance in her own way.
The former USWNT star took to Instagram stories to share a dedicated carousel curated by Togethxr, a media and lifestyle company co-founded by Morgan, Sue Bird, Chloe Kim, and Simone Manuel. The shared post featured the celebration of the program’s immense success over the decades. Interestingly, aside from sharing her story, she wrote a caption saying, “All eyes on @huskervb.”

This is quite a heartwarming gesture from Alex Morgan. And the fact that it came from someone who is no less than a key figure and vocal advocate for women’s sports even after leaving the beautiful game speaks volumes about the Nebraska Volleyball. Just like the caption of the post mentioned, “The numbers speak for themselves. Husker Nation is built different,” they deserve their moment.

It all began from their humble beginnings, precisely dating back to 1967, as a mere financially constrained women’s club. This was the time they had no uniforms or any rotating grad student coaches. In fact, it wasn’t until 1975 that it became an official varsity program. From that moment, they have hardly looked back, having constructed an enduring legacy with five NCAA titles, 34 conference titles, and earning an NCAA Tournament berth every year since 1982, speaking for itself.
No wonder they’ve managed to shatter records year after year. Like the time when over 92,000 fans packed Memorial Stadium in 2023, setting a world record for attendance at a women’s sporting event. They rightfully dominate the national attendance charts every season, luring record-breaking viewership in millions and selling out more than 300 consecutive matches, which again, is a record in itself.
Of course, special mention to the key figures of this program, including 4x Olympian Jordan Larson, and Sarab Pavan, one of the most-decorated student-athletes, who gave their all to the program’s success. And believe it or not, but even today, the bar has only been raised by the upcoming generation of Nebraska Volleyball.

Nothing but onwards and upwards for the Nebraska Volleyball
The Nebraska Volleyball also deserve a pat on their backs for bringing the college to Pro pipeline to life, having produced over 8 Olympians, 4 National Players of the Year, and over 100 All-Americans. And to top it off with their emphatic leadership, the obvious shoutout also goes to 3X AVCA National Coach of the Year, John Cook, who, for over 25 years, managed to transfer this team into a powerhouse. Well, a 772-103 record speaks for itself for one of the most successful coaches in DI volleyball history.

And he rightly passed the torch to Dani Busboom Kelly. As a former Husker and national champion, she was the obvious choice, having led Louisville to multiple NCAA runs before taking over in August. And it’s not just the leadership; this new wave of next-generation talent is also playing its part in continuing to preserve the future of Nebraska Volleyball.
Names like Bergen Reilly, Harper Murray, and Andi Jackson are already carrying that legacy forward, representing the next era of the Huskers’ dominance. Still undefeated in the 2025 season and hungry for their first NCAA title since 2017, this new group looks determined to keep the tradition alive and forge a new chapter in the storied history of the Nebraska Volleyball.
