The deadly wave of the French island
Any surfer’s confidence could be shaken by Tahiti’s southernmost point. And the cause of this is not the lethal jaws of sharks. The enormous wave that crashes upon the shore is what terrifies the surfers.
The southern tip of Tahiti is the origin of deadly waves which the majority of surfers are scared of going into. These are no ordinary currents; these have strengths beyond the human body’s tolerance. According to the report by Men’s Journal, the dense wave holds explosive power as its thickness is more than its height.

The surfing accident that brought it to the limelight
He attempted to make his way through a massive loop of waves, but little did he know what was coming for him. The surfer couldn’t maintain his balance and succumbed to the thick, intense waves. He drowned and was sucked down onto the reefs. Despite the ferocity of Tahiti’s most infamous wave, fortunately only one such disaster has struck Teahupo‘o.
