USA Announces Women’s Springboard and Platform Diving Teams for Tokyo Olympics 2020

Diving is one of the most popular water sports at the Olympics. It is an art that the divers must perfect in order to win big at international events. The USA has always been a powerhouse in diving, and here are the female divers who will represent the nation at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. 

Diving first made its Olympic debut in 1904 and has come a long way since. The Americans stand tall as the most decorated nation, but China has been picking up the pace quite tremendously, over the years. 

Female Divers who will represent Team USA at Tokyo Olympics 2020

There are a total of four diving events in the women’s category. The U.S. held the diving Olympic trials from June 6-13 from which all six quotas for women were filled. These six divers will represent Team USA at Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Women’s Synchronized Springboard

Katrina Young

Delaney Schnell and Krysta Palmer are both Olympic rookies and the duo will compete in maximum events for the United States. Schnell won the 10m platform bronze medal in the 2019 World Championships.

Jessica Parratto and Katrina Young both qualified for their second straight Olympic games and will be expected to win big in Tokyo this time. 

Schedule for women’s diving events

There are four events in women’s diving at the Tokyo Olympics and all of them will take place at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. Both the 3m synchronized springboard and 10m synchronized platform will not have prelims or semi-final and will directly move ahead with the final

July 25 – Women’s Synchronised 3m Springboard Final (2:00 a.m. ET) 

July 27 – Women’s Synchronised 10m Platform Final (2:00 a.m. ET) 

On the other hand, the individual 3m springboard and 10m platform events will have the prelims, semi-final, and then the final.

July 30 – Women’s 3m Springboard Preliminary (2:00 a.m. ET)

July 31 – Women’s 3m Springboard Semi-final (2:00 a.m. ET)

August 1 – Women’s 3m Springboard Final (2:00 a.m ET)

August 4- Women’s 10m Platform Preliminary (2:00 a.m ET)

August 4- Women’s 10m Platform Semi-Final (9:00 p.m. ET)
