The race is Austria was a horror show for Vettel. He barely managed to get a point, only thanks to a series of drivers retiring ahead of him. After starting the race at P-11, the German spun out while trying to overtake Carlos Sainz, and dropped to 15th place.

However, ‘F1 Supremo’ Bernie Ecclestone, sympathizes with the German driver and claims to have advised him to reveal the truth behind his split.

Bernie Ecclestone thinks that Sebastian Vettel has gained freedom after revealing the truth

The 89-year-old ‘F1 Supremo,’ who is also a good friend of Vettel, was in conversation with F1-Insider.com. He said, “I’ve been talking to Sebastian a lot lately. I advised him that the truth about the separation from Ferrari must come out on the table.

“That was important for him. Sebastian is an extremely talented driver with a strong will, but very sensitive when he has to live with injustice. He has now freed himself from this.”

Furthermore, addressing the error that Vettel made in the Austrian GP, Ecclestone was rather forgiving. He said, “The driving mistake had nothing to do with it.

“Something like this can always happen. Even Lewis Hamilton, the superstar of the scene, didn’t have his best weekend in Austria.”

After a hugely disappointing weekend for Vettel, he’ll be looking to put in an improved performance, in this weekend’s Styrian Grand Prix.

He’ll also be hoping that Ferrari can improve the car ahead of the second Grand Prix of this season because he was clearly not happy with the SF1000, in the last race.
