In the path of her journey, Mitchey switched her hobby as a gymnast to cheering for the Buckeyes she got immense support while treading into the new area of cheerleading. Hence, the spirited evolution of the young woman with her passion echoing loud, Mitchey has been a true inspiration for aspiring athletes.?

A childhood attachment made way for Mitchey?s passion

Mitchey began her journey as a gymnast at the tender age of two. However, as soon as she continued with her academic journey and entered St. Ursula Academy as a freshman, the idea of switching her passion from gymnastics to cheerleading struck her.?

In an interview with WTOL11, Mitchey shared her experience how she had a connection with Ohio State since she was a child, ?My entire family has been Ohio State fan, so I grew up watching college day and the Ohio State game every Saturday.” The transition even though it marked the beginning of her journey towards adorning the iconic scarlet and grey uniform, it also tested her versatility.?

Debuting in the Ohio State cheerleading team, Mitchey had set her goals towards taking part in college cheerleading. It was after seeing a post on Instagram made by the Ohio State cheerleading team that spiked her interest. To grab the attention of the squad, Mitche kept on tagging them in her videos, and to refine her skills, she even attended cheer combines and signed up for clinics.?

The coach of the cheerleading squad saw a spark within Mitchey as he said, “Cali stood out with her strong tumbling skills as well as how fast she progressed with her partner’s stun skills, just her work ethic, how she was able to progress so quickly.”?

One of her teammates highlighted her helpful nature and ushered in a sense of positivity into the team along with her, motivating everyone to perform better. Taking strength from all the support she has received being a part of the cheerleading squad, Mitchey emphasizes her commitment to continuous learning and growing as an athlete, putting in her hard work.?
