700 miles is a very long journey to cover by cycling. It is very surprising to note that a really young teen is all set to embark on a really big journey. Isabel Wright, an inspiring 13-year-old from Rugby, Warwickshire, is all set for an incredible journey to support the largest horse welfare charity in the UK, Redwings.

Alongside her father, Rich Jones, and his best friend, Dave Wright, Isabel will be cycling to all five of Redwings’ visitor centres across England and Scotland to raise funds.

Miles to cover in Cycling To Raise Funds

The Cyclist commences at Redwings Mountains in Forfar, Angus, Scotland, where they’ll set off on Saturday (19th). The trio will take turns riding a tandem bike, covering a remarkable 740 miles in total. Their route will lead them to Redwings Caldecott and Redwings Aylsham in Norfolk, then to Redwings Ada Cole in Harlow, concluding at Redwings Oxhill in Warwickshire.

Isabel’s dedication to fundraising for Redwings has grown over the past two years. Although she doesn’t own a horse, her love for and experience with horses drive her commitment. At the age of eight, a visit to her local Redwings visitor centre sparked her idea to contribute. Every summer, she aims to undertake a meaningful challenge.

This marks their third fundraiser, with prior achievements including a 100-mile walk across the Shetland Islands in 2021 and conquering two of Wales’ highest peaks in 2022, cut short due to unforeseen circumstances. Their dedication led them through a ten-mile walk daily for ten days, culminating on Isabel’s 11th birthday. This year’s endeavour involves cycling to all Redwings visitor centres, with Isabel already considering swimming for their next challenge.

There is one such incident where the San Diego County Department was sued after a horse died under neglecting conditions.

Death of a horse in a neglecting situation

San Diego County Department brought in legally by the animal rights organization after the news of a horse being dead came forward. This lawsuit was also issued because there were accusations of more horses being in such poor conditions. The San Diego Department reportedly failed to produce good evidence for the care of horses at Rancho Santa Fe.

The lawsuit is still under investigation so no further details are yet revealed.

Isabel’s annual fundraising efforts have already raised over £3,000 for Redwings. Debbie Scott, Head of Fundraising at Redwings, expressed immense gratitude for Isabel’s impactful support. The charity relies solely on generous donations to care for horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules in need.

Their journey will not only be a personal achievement but a testament to the power of determination and compassion. As they pedal their way to each centre, they’ll be greeted with a warm welcome. This will come from Redwings and the support of their admirers. This heartfelt initiative aligns with Redwings’ mission, as they continue to make a positive difference in the lives of these remarkable animals.
