Work smart, not hard, is a motto followed by many. Today’s bizarre happenings center around a football pitch with an athlete using this motto to score an easy touchdown. As the athlete was seen limping off the pitch, few would have anticipated the strange twist that awaited. 

Once the athlete pulled off his little bait and switch tactic that followed, the entire audience along with his opponents went berserk. However, not all were amused by this tactic as some found it against the spirit of the game.

Football match takes a hilarious turn as athlete takes play-acting to new heights

The video was uploaded by an account named House of Highlights on Instagram. In the short clip, we can see the video portraying a football game on a lush green field with a serene background. The video was being recorded from the fag end of the field where a couple of footballers were spotted. One of the footballers, wearing a white and black jersey with traditional football tights could be seen coming onto the field. 

As the player coming in sped towards his team, another player from the same team appeared to have been injured as he had difficulty walking. The athlete slowed down significantly as he approached the touchline grabbing his hand. Till now, this would look like a usual scene from a football game. However, what happened next was beyond anyone’s expectations.

The footballer came right on the edge of the line and stopped. Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, the athlete turned around and took off, running fiercely in the opposite direction. Such an act shocked everyone and as people realized that the athlete played the whole time, they erupted in hysterical laughter. Meanwhile, the athlete caught the ball from his teammates and ran towards the line for a free touchdown. As the opponent was in hot pursuit, the video came to an end. 

Such a video made the fans flock to the comment section and give their two cents.

One of the users sharing a personal opinion mentioned, “Faking injury for a “trick” play is lame”.
