Nickelodeon, in partnership with CBS, is set to broadcast the Super Bowl game scheduled for February 2024. This marks the first time a Super Bowl game will be televised by a broadcasting channel other than CBS. While this may be a new endeavour for Nickelodeon, they have prior experience in broadcasting, having previously televised wild card games and even the Christmas Day regular game. One of Nickelodeon’s well-received programs, “NFL Slime Time,” regularly features highlights and has gained popularity.
During an episode of NFL Slime Time, on the occasion of a Christmas day game broadcast, Patrick, a character from SpongeBob SquarePants, was part of the broadcasting team. Playfully, Patrick managed to roast the Denver Broncos quarterback, Russell Wilson. Notably, Patrick’s choice of words remained entirely appropriate, making it an enjoyable broadcasting event for all viewers. Nickelodeon effectively demonstrated that broadcasting can be entertaining without resorting to explicit language.
