Following his two knee surgeries, Swiss maestro Roger Federer has been sidelined from the Tour until 2021. Considering his age, many are wondering whether he might decide to retire. Well, the good news is that has no plans of doing that anytime soon.

In a recent podcast, Roger was discussing his new racquet produced by Wilson. He has not been able to play with it due to his injury, but he will probably do so soon. He wants to compete again as soon as possible.

“I am waiting and burning on the inside to go back on the Tour again. It’s been a tough year for my knee and for my health really. Thankfully, with COVID-19, I’ve been healthy, everybody around me as well. Also, the Tour coming to a halt was tough to see but it’s back now so that’s nice…I can’t wait to come back myself and hopefully, join in the action and play with the best again.”

The Roger Federer records that are under threat

Obviously, the Swiss Maestro wants to get back on the Tour as two of his glorious records are under threat. These are the total singles Grand Slam titles record and the record for the most weeks at World No. 1 in the ATP Rankings.

With 20 Majors to his name, Roger Federer has held the Grand Slam record for quite a while. However, Rafael Nadal is very close with 19 and he could very well equal it with a win at Roland Garros.

The record for most weeks at No. 1, however, is under threat by Novak Djokovic. He just spent his 287th week at the top and he can very well go past Roger’s 310 next year. Since he has ended his season, Federer cannot do anything to stop his two rivals. However, he could take the lead again once he returns and everyone will be hoping that he can do just that in 2021.
