The two were almost like magnets and were constantly attacking each other during the race. By lap 24, Max Verstappen was behind teammate Pierre Gasly, Sebastian Vettel and the two Mercedes, with only LeClerc behind. Then, the Dutchman ran wide and LeClerc was ready to pounce. The Monegasque driver ran around the outside and grabbed the inside of the next corner. However, the two drivers touched and Max Verstappen was forced wide, though he managed to stay ahead.

Later on, on lap 36, it was Pierre Gasly, who was next on the Charles LeClerc hit list. The Monaco native danced around the outside of the Village corner and gained another place, but not before getting harried by Gasly. In the end, Max Verstappen finished on the podium, while, the Bulls were hot on his heels in 4th and 5th.
