Recently, Formula One uploaded a video where the drivers explained F1 as if they were talking to 5-year olds. The best part was that Kimi Raikkonen also featured in the video, and he simply said, ‘fast and fun’. Obviously, Raikkonen is a man of very few words.

Even in the Netflix show, Formula 1: Drive to Survive season 2, he had barely a few seconds of screen time. However, the 2007 world champion made every second count and managed to make himself memorable. It is safe to say that Kimi Raikkonen decided to apply the same tactic in this YouTube video.

Kimi Raikkonen will be missed when he retires

The Finnish veteran is no spring chicken and is approaching the age of 41. So, there is a chance that he may hang up his racing boots very soon. When he does leave, it will be a huge loss for F1, because he is one of the most popular drivers on the grid.

The surprising thing is that he has not done anything to garner such a loving fanbase. Raikkonen has simply been himself, the cool, calm and collected Iceman. His brand of humour consists of deadpan dry wit, but it always managed to produce some chuckles.

He is popular, because, he is different from the regular breed of drivers. He pretty much does what he wants to, not caring about what others or the cameras may think. No F1 driver can be like him and act like him and get away with it. Others have to be politically correct and camera-friendly/sponsor-friendly. Not Kimi Raikkonen, and this is why people still love him and his eventual departure will sorely impact the F1 fanbase.
